A Phenomenological Analysis of Resistance in Confronting Revelation: A Study on the Painful Ascension Process in Verses 16 to 25 of Surah Al-Muddathir

Abstract

This article offers a phenomenological inquiry into the dynamic of contumacy (‘inād) when confronting revelatory messages, based on verses 16–25 of Sūrat al-Muddaththir. The primary objective of this study is to delineate the trajectory of the cognitive and moral collapse of the obstinate persona (al-‘anīd) in the face of truth. Utilizing content analysis within a phenomenological hermeneutic framework, this research demonstrates that ‘inād in these verses exhibits a multilayered structure: it initiates with cognitive engineering (fakkara wa-qaddar), manifests through non-verbal reactions and body language (‘abasa wa-basar), and consolidates via the psychological defense mechanism of haughtiness and aversion (adbara wa-stakbar). The findings indicate that by deploying the reductive strategy of humanizing revelation (qawl al-bashar), the obstinate denier seeks to banish the prophetic message from the domain of transcendental truth and relegate it to the realms of imagination and deception. Ultimately, this article argues that the “arduous ascent” (ṣa‘ūd) depicted in these verses operates as a symbol of the soul’s exhausting, futile striving to preserve its egoistic hegemony against sovereign divine authority.

این مقاله به واکاوی پدیدارشناختیِ جریانِ «عناد» در مواجهه با پیام‌های وحیانی بر اساس آیات ۱۶ تا ۲۵ سوره مدّثر می‌پردازد. هدف اصلی این پژوهش، ترسیمِ نقشه‌راهِ فروپاشیِ معرفتی و اخلاقیِ شخصیتِ معاند در مواجهه با حقیقت است. با استفاده از روش تحلیل محتوا و رویکرد پدیدارشناختی، این تحقیق نشان می‌دهد که «عناد» در این آیات، یک ساختارِ چندلایه دارد که از «مهندسیِ اندیشه» (فکر و قدر) آغاز شده، در قالبِ «کنش‌های غیرکلامی و زبان بدن» (عبس و بسر) تجلی می‌یابد و با «مکانیسمِ دفاعیِ استکبار» (ادبار و استکبار) تثبیت می‌شود. یافته‌های پژوهش حاکی از آن است که معاند با استفاده از استراتژیِ «بشری‌سازیِ وحی» (قول البشر)، سعی در خروجِ پیام از دایره‌ی حقیقت و وارد کردن آن به حوزه تخیل و فریب دارد. در نهایت، این مقاله استدلال می‌کند که «صعود عذاب‌آور» در این آیات، نمادی از تلاشِ بیهوده و فرسایشیِ روح برای حفظِ جایگاهِ نفسانی در برابرِ اقتدارِ الهی است.
